I attended the 2013 eWomen Network conference in Dallas Texas and in addition to networking and increasing my knowledge base for my own business, I was also serving on the support team for Lisa Nichols' and Motivating the Masses. Orginally I was asked to serve in one role, but halfway through the 5 day conference I was asked to step into another role, as Lisa's personal assistant.
Now to some people that may sound glamorous and for others you may think of it as a diminutive role. Well, let me tell you that its actually neither.
To serve someoen who is operating on divine assignment and at an extraordinarily high level of energetic output of creativity, quality content and love, is one of the most humbling roles I have ever undertaken.
I learned so much from "sitting at the knee," (if you will) of a CEO running a multi-million dollar business. I was able to support her from sun up to sun down. To be able to watch and listen as she had to maintain the vision but make adjustments as each day unfolded was priceless.
To be privy to her decision making process, her integrity in the face of challenges and her inner strength and ability to lead the team with the highest vision and calling as her guide was an experential learning opportunity that I couldn't have imagined.
I am certain I will be processing the gems I learned serving in this role of leadership for many months to come. But, here are my top four so far:
- Be willing to lead from your heart with love and your head with strategy, especially when "what looks like" adversity shows up
- Human relationships will always be the highest form of currency
- Little things really do matter and they're the glue that make the big things possible
- Faith is the foundation for every ounce of success we achieve
Thank you mama bear Lisa and the entire Motivating the Masses team for a once in a life time opportunity to learn, glean and grow!
