Earlier this year, my little brother transitioned to return to spirit form and be with my mother on the other side. Although I cherish each day of life, there's nothing like losing someone you care about to remind you that life is a blessing, a true gift.
I had the chance to return to my home town, Omaha Nebraska, and visit with him before he passed on. Despite having no kidneys and his liver function reduced to 25% he was in good spirits and as we chatted and went down memory lane I saw him handling his health challenges with all the dignity he could muster.
While there, he reminded me to embrace two golden rules:
- Ask permission of no one. Live life on your own terms and by your own rules
- Forgiveness is one of the most powerful forces on the planet
Too often we're waiting for someone to give us permission to really live our life, to do what we really want to do. If what you want to do brings no harm to anyone, then do it. Do it right now, today.
Forgiveness is difficult for all of us. We falsely believe that if we forgive someone that means we've given our power away. When actually, forgiveness is an act of love and holds equal power to transform. Forgiveness means we let go of the transgression and usher in the healing.
As I take a moment today to reflect on my life I'm going to inspect myself to make sure that I'm honoring those 2 golden rules. Because if I'm staying true to those two, I'm definitely headed in the right direction!
Remember, life is precious. Do your happy dance. Enjoy LIFE!
