Twitter is the newest and snazziest web 2.0 tool that really is: Us against them!
For those people who don't quite understand the magic and power of twitter they say that tweeting is just a big waste of time. For those of us who do understand the power of Twitter and its benefit we know that among other things, Twitter is the #1 Motivation Station for several reasons, but I've chosen to focus on the following top 4 ways to use Twitter to stay motivated:
#1 - Support: In the twitter-verse you will find that people will support you in your endeavors, plans, goals & through creating joint ventures. You will find folks willing to lend a hand to help you with a problem, issue or dilemma.
I recently tweeted about a technical issue with my computer and within minutes someone volunteered to help me work through it. I tweeted I was on the phone with Sprint and a Sprint representative tweeted me offering to help out if I needed further assistance. When I was training for my 1/2 marathon I got loads of tweets from peeps encouraging me and cheering me on. I've met folks and have begun partnering in business ventures and many of my coaching clients find me on Twitter. Now that's my kind of environment!
#2 - Positive minded people: There is such a strong positive vibe on twitter that if you're ever feeling down, just log in to Twitter and read tweets. Within minutes your mood will shift and you'll be back on track. I use twitter to both deliver more positivity into the Universe and to receive more as well.
#3 - Freedom to practice reciprocity: Re-tweeting other peoples tweets that you find to be funny, positive, helpful, and/or interesting is the best pay-it-forward system on the net. Why? Well, because the action is immediate and the response is so viral and visceral. Personally, I love to re-tweet. Sharing is important to me and sharing the value that others bring to the world is tops on my list.
#4 - Freedom to connect: Meeting people from all over the world is so awesome. Twitter helps to removes the boundaries that can be far too rigid in our lives. It dissolves the mental, regional and country boundaries and creates a path way of permission that allows us to connect immediately and thus discover more about a different place and most importantly discover that people really are more alike than different no matter the race, ethnicity or country of origin.
As you can see, Twitter has a rather unique way of helping you stay motivated. So if you're in the 'Us Camp' then you're already in! But, if you're in the 'Them Camp' than I welcome you to come on over and join in the fun at twitter.com.
